World Wide Web Consortium (W3C): the non-profit organization which maintains the HTML specification and other vital web technologies and standards, such as the WCAG.

WCAG

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines: The WCAG is a global standard for measuring accessibility of web and digital content. Created and maintained by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

The WCAG is based on four simple concepts, which make up the acronym POUR.

  • Perceivable
  • Operable
  • Understandable
  • Robust

Together these four elements of digital content reference the essential aspects of making digital content accessible, and more importantly, usable.
